The final was contested between Dereham and Royal West Norfolk at Thetford on 2nd November, after being re-scheduled from 6th October due to torrential rain.

Dereham fielded a strong side with three county players: Immy Leeder, Beth Buckingham and Maisie Farrelly, who were carefully paired with Maria Fox, Cindy Tufts and Helen Burrage.

This helped them to their 3/0 victory.

The Gillieson Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments for women in Norfolk. It was first played in 1956 and present by Violet Gillieson who at the time was President of the Norfolk Ladies’ County Golf Association and a member of Sheringham Golf Club.
