Norfolk are East Region Champions again...

The morning foursomes proved to be a very tense affair.  I gambled by playing Amelia & Amy together to virtually guarantee us 1 point and hope that one of the other pairs would pick up something.  Unfortunately Herts were really up for it and took the other two matches against Jo Herd & Chloe Gibbs 4&2 and Tiffany & Imogen on the final hole.

We went into the afternoon singles needing a further 2 1/2 points to win the Championship.  Youngster Chloe Gibbs led the way against one of Herts star performers, Anna Collis.  In an up and down match Chloe played some magnificent golf to keep in touch with her opponent and halve her match giving Norfolk a very important 1/2 point. The next point on the board was from Amelia who rounded off a great week with an impressive 6&4 victory as did Amy who won her match 4&3. The icing on the cake was a 1/2 point from Imogen who halved her match giving Norfolk a total of 4 points and although they lost the match 5-4 it was enough to secure the East Region title by 2 games.

I am absolutely delighted how the team have played this week and they have never known how to accept defeat.  They have battled for every point on a difficult and challenging course. I am so proud of their efforts and they have been justly rewarded.

So now we are off to Delamere Forest for the National Finals from 16-21 September.
