By Norfolk Ladies' County Golf Association
Sunday, March 5, 2017

Project Aims:

To grow girls participation and membership on a county basis by utilising the County Junior Girls squad as role models for new girls coming into golf.

Overview:

The project is to be delivered in partnership by the following bodies; England Golf, The Golf Foundation, County Golf Development Group, County Sports Partnership and County Ladies Golf Association. All bodies will work together to target new girls aged 5-18 in a County wide recruitment drive. Five clubs within the County will deliver girl’s only coaching sessions with emphasis placed on fun, social and friendship aspects of golf rather than just the coaching and playing side of the game. The County girl’s squad have been recruited as Ambassadors who assume the position of role models to inspire the new girls and support their continued participation during the project. The ambassadors have receive leadership training and will be asked to support the recruitment drive as well as providing feedback on how to drive the programme forward. Ultimately the project aims to create an environment where the girls feel comfortable and confident to participate and the centres offer a clear pathway for the girls to continue their participation within groups.
